Best Paper Award!

In July we presented our work on Mediating Human-Robot Interactions with Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality which won a Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality (VAMR) held in conjunction with the 2019 HCI International (HCII) conference.

In this paper, we argue that the emergence of a new generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality (VAMR) technologies is creating an exciting new design space in which to address problems related to breakdowns in communication between humans and robots. To support this argument, we presented the results of three experiments demonstrating the value in using modern VAMR technologies to mediate human-robot interactions and discussed various challenges and opportunities in this emerging space at the intersection of several communities, including robotics, graphics, visualization, and human-computer interaction.
